Alumni

At Kinver High School and Sixth Form we are keen to continue the growth and development of our Alumni database. Our vision is that by sharing these successes, it will inspire our current students to engage in their school work, succeed in examinations and become leaders in their own right.

We also want to ensure that our Kinver High School community continues to grow and that our past students feel connected to the school through regular updates and annual events that bring our students back together to share their stories.

Fondest memory of Kinver High School:

Without doubt, my time at Kinver High School helped to shape me both academically and personally, aiding me greatly in attaining my aspirations. I was most definitely challenged and encouraged to fulfil my potential.

After leaving Kinver High School:

I am currently attending St Peter’s College studying medicine. My first year at Oxford has been wonderful. Medicine is an incredibly interesting subject, and already at this stage, very rewarding. There is plenty of work with which to occupy yourself, but there is always a sense of accomplishment that accompanies the completion of work. All of this is made far easier by the astoundingly knowledgeable tutors here teaching us, all of whom are practicing specialists, professors, researchers, or a combination of these. Beyond the rather plenteous work, I have made some amazing friends, who are invaluable in enriching the university experience, and supporting me in my time here. I’ve also been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to play basketball at University level; this is a fantastic opportunity to get needed breaks from working/studying’.

After leaving Kinver High School:

I went to study nursing at the University of Leeds. I qualified as a children’s nurse and I am currently working in Birmingham Children’s Hospital as an Oncology Nurse.

My favourite thing about my degree is probably meeting children and their families and being able to help in their recovery and seeing how resilient they are. I’m specialising straight away and going to work on a children’s oncology ward. I worked on a similar ward in Leeds in my second year and loved it’.

Fondest memory of Kinver High School:

There are so many that I could choose but for me what I will always remember is how close everyone became in sixth form and how we could all just sit in the common room and talk, laugh and play games. The teachers at Kinver High school will always be ones that I remember because they were so supportive and always strived to make sure each and everyone one of us had the help we needed to give us the best opportunities at success. A final memory that I will always look back on fondly is the sixth form Summer ball we had in 2019. It was such a nice event that we all got to dress up nicely for and it brought together all of the invictus sixth form schools, which was nice for us all to celebrate the end of the year together.

After leaving Kinver High School:

Once I left Kinver I went on to study at sixth form for two years. Following this, i am currently studying at Newman University in Birmingham doing a degree in Early Childhood Education and Care as this has always been the career sector I have been passionate about going into.

Advice for current/future students:

I would say make the most of your time at Kinver High School and take advantage of all the extra curricular opportunities you can because it will go by so fast and before you know it you will be doing your GCSE’s and leaving school !! I would also say don’t be scared to ask the staff for help because no matter what the situation or problem they are so supportive and will do anything they can to help you and make things easier. For those of you who are thinking of joining Kinver High School, I can’t recommend the school enough!! There are so many clubs that you can join, the subjects are all taught at a high standard and I enjoyed everything about my time at the school, I can’t thank the staff enough for the support and help I received throughout my time there.
