Year 9 Options Process

 

Key Stage 4 students will all study Mathematics, English and Science.  Students also choose a subject from one of our ‘creative’ choices, to give our students a broad range of subjects and a ‘creative’ subject which allows students to develop a number of skills which employers are looking for. We believe that our students will leave Kinver with the skills and attributes to succeed as the result of having a studied a range of subjects. By studying one or more of these creative subjects, it also supports them in their well-being.

All students will follow an ambitious pathway that is suitable for them and are given the opportunity to study at least one other subject from History, Geography, Computer Science or Spanish.

Through our options system we endeavour to enable our students to follow their interests and pursue their strengths. Our aim is to provide a curriculum to meet the needs of all students with some vocational subjects offered alongside GCSE options.

Decisions at KS4 are rooted on the principal of ‘choice’ and all decisions are always made in the best interests of students. We know how important these choices are to our students, and we want to reassure you of the support and guidance that will be in place.
