Course Details
Why choose this course?
It is a comprehensive course, which covers a wide range of media products including TV, magazines, advertisements and radio.
Course Content/Main Topics
Component 1: Students will study advertisements, music videos, video games, newspapers, film and radio.
Component 2: Students will study TV Crime Drama, a historical and modern magazine and a current online media product.
Component 3: Students will be given a brief by the exam board where they are required to make their own media product. They will take their own original photos, create a narrative/title and a website to promote their product.
Careers and Higher Education
Higher Education: English/English Literature degrees, Media, Film studies, Journalism, teacher training, legal courses and many more academic based courses.
Career opportunities: English Literature is a sound basis for many jobs and is a good grounding for a range of careers.

Assessment
Entry Requirements
A Grade 6 in both English Language and English Literature is required in order to take this A level, although higher grades are desired.
GCSE Media Studies is not required, but does provide a useful foundation upon which further knowledge and understand can be built.
